Alturas observes Arts Month
Now going on until March 9, at the 4th Level of Alturas Mall is the “Hinimo sa Bohol” Art Exhibit featuring the best artworks from almost a hundred local Boholano visual artists showcasing their extraordinary artistic talents in acrylic and oil painting, and mixed media arts; as well as sculptures, and other forms of creative arts.
Last February 24, kids and adults alike enjoyed participating in the art workshop with topnotch speakers – renowned Boholano artist Elvin Vitor who shared his tips and techniques in acrylic painting, Sheena Lasconia in basic sketching and still life painting. Art teachers from some schools in the city like BISU and UB were also taking part in the said workshop.
In the following day, eight campus artists competed in the inter-school painting contest. The top 3 winners are Rhea Kristine G. Solon of Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School, Loree Jon Racho of Bohol Wisdom School, and Hector J. Rañeses of University of Bohol.
According to CCAD, they highlighted arts as an important toll of nation building due to its ability to provide social commentary on issues, inspire movements, preserve history, and celebrate the uniqueness of our local heritage.
This year’s theme of the National Arts Month celebration is “Ani ng Sining, Bayang Malikhain”.
