Alturas Free Tuli
As part of its 50th Anniversary this year, Alturas Group of Companies, through its Alay Marcela Foundation (AMF), conducts free operation tuli, dubbed as “Tuli Na Me”, scheduled in the months of July and August.
The objective is to help the poor parents avail the free circumcision of their children and the free medicine for the recovery and healing of the wound.
Circumcision or tuli has a long historical tradition in the Philippines, and regarded as an obligatory rite of passage to manhood. Those who have not undergone the ritual are ridiculed and labelled pisot by their peers. According to medical studies, the smegma (tiktik) that accumulates at the neck of the glans penis can cause cervical cancer.
