Alturas launches eye care program
In observance of the Sight-Saving Month of August, Alturas Group of Companies (AGC), through its Alay Marcela Foundation; in coordination with the most trusted optical brand in the Philippines, Ideal Vision Center, reaches out once again to those who are suffering poor eyesight through the second batch of its eye care program dubbed as “Eye Love You.”
The said community outreach of AGC which was launched and conducted years ago before the pandemic highlights free eye check-up and distribution of free branded prescription eyeglasses to all recipients in the different barangays of Bohol.
This month’s schedule of Alturas “Eye Love You” Eye Care Program are August 13–Brgy. Lourdes, Cortes; August 14–Brgy. La Hacienda and Brgy. Untaga, Alicia; August 15–Brgy. Gabi and Brgy. Lomangog, Ubay; August 16–Brgy. Rizal and Brgy. Subayon, Bilar; August 19–Brgy. Catagbacan, Loon and Brgy. San Isidro, Calape; August 20–Brgy. Canhayupon and Brgy. Lapsaon, Dimiao; and August 21–Brgy. Calabacita and Brgy. Balili, Jagna.
There are now a total of 751 beneficiaries after “Eye Love You” was started a few years ago. Most of the eye patients were checked up by resident ophthalmologist of Ideal Vision Center, Dr. Ryan Petrolla.
“Eye Love You” stems from “Oplan Sagip Mata”, a comprehensive eye care program of DOH launched by the late Senator and former Health Secretary Juan Flavier in 1993, which until now provides free operations and services to address the increasing rate of blindness in the country. It has already helped over 500,000 beneficiaries nationwide.
