DFA Consular Office now at Alturas Mall

Boholano applicants for passport or those seeking for its renewal will no longer have to go to other places like Manila, Cebu, and Dumaguete, as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Alturas Group of Companies (AGC) opened its 41st Consular Office last November 29, 2024, located at the 5th Floor of Alturas Mall.

DFA Undersecretary Jesus Domingo led the ceremonial ribbon cutting, together with DFA Assistant Secretary for Office of Consular Affairs (OCA) Adelio Angelito S. Cruz, AGC General Manager Marlito C. Uy and wife Neneng Uy, Rep. Edgar M. Chatto, Gov. Erico Aumentado, and Tagb. City Mayor Jane Cajes-Yap.

With a very hectic schedule, DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo just delivered a pre-recorded video message congratulating both the DFA and AGC for another milestone in public service.

A ceremonial MOA signing between the DFA and AGC was made just before the official blessing and ribbon-cutting of the new consular office here in Bohol, in which according to Mr. Uy is a fitting gift to the Boholanos this Yuletide season. “It took almost 4 years of concerted efforts to turn this dream into a reality,” Mr. Uy said during his Welcome Remarks which drew applause from the crowd, including the local media.

Mr. Uy expressed his profound gratitude to the DFA, and to the Bohol officials from Rep. Chatto, Gov. Aumentado, and to Mayor Yap who likewise lauded Mr. Uy for all the great things Alturas Group of Companies had done, not just in the city, but for the province of Bohol for many generations.

And not everybody knows that Mr. Uy personally offers to the DFA free rent of the big area or space occupied by the consular office at Alturas Mall. In one of his messages, he said it doesn’t matter to him not a single centavo is collected for the rental fee of the said government office, as long as DFA can serve the Boholanos easy and hassle-free in obtaining or renewal of their passports. He just looks for the welfare of the Boholano applicants who usually have to travel outside the province for their passport processing.
